Children Level 2 - Awareness of Abuse and Neglect

All applicants must have already attended Level 1 training. For those staff who work regularly with children and families who have considerable professional and organisational responsibility for safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare and be able to act on welfare concerns and be able to contribute appropriately for safeguarding processes.

Aims and Objectives

• Demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding and the key terms and definitions
• Identify the categories of abuse and recognise the signs and indicators of abuse and neglect
• Understand how to respond effectively to disclosure from a child
• Demonstrate an understanding of effective working together
• Understand the child protection process in Darlington
• Identify the threshold for taking action
